Just a few months ago I did an Internet search for child GPS locators and came up with little of interest. At best, devices were bulky or offered only short range assistance in locating children (i.e. if they wander a few hundred feet from you in the playground).....
A search today revealed that the landscape of options has changed drastically in the last few months with companies offering a range of products, including items that look like watches, affix to clothing and track through use of cell phone technology.
Most of these items come with some kind of monthly subscription cost along with the base price for the device. And especially if we are talking about kids, these devices can get lost.
If you own a child GPS tracker, please comment on this blog to share your reviews of the product so that my readers will be able to explore these important safety options. We'd love to know what you think of the device in terms of it's convenience, ability to withstand the punishment a child can inflict, how easy it is for the child or a predator to remove, how well the actual technology works (Can you track from your cell phone? Can you set up alerts, etc). Also, please share any real life experience you have that might explain how the device helped you.
I'm confident that in the next couple of years, options for child tracking technology with continue to improve!
I have a GPS tracker which does not need any plans. It only need a supplementary line from your main line which allows sms and calls. I can monitor the child by typing a code and it sends to the tracker and it will give me an exact gps location. We just press on the link it will show up on the map of the iphone or a computer. We can also call the tracker and we are able to listen to the surrounding of the location of the child. If the child is in distress, they have the option to make calls to any 3 preset numbers or just press the SOS button. It will call all 3 numbers.
